Today Argos announced they were ditching the printed version of their catalogue.
Now for an environment point of view, it’s 100% a win.
But for someone who’s childhood was pre internet, the Argos catalogue was the ultimate christmas wishlist. Seeing a toy ad on the telly and going straight to the catalogue to see if it was there, circling it first in case my sister got wind of how awesome this toy was – that circle meant something, this was claimed! Most of the time we never got the toys circled but that wasn’t the point, it was an innocent wish.
So ultimately we aren’t mourning the loss of the book, it’s the excited, childish joy we got from it.
